Version 1.4 of the Bluetooth Texter widget can now be downloaded.

Changes for this version are:

This version restores the SPP (Serial Port) connection method in addition to the default DUN (Dialup Networking);

A bug was fixed where in version 1.3 in some cases the 'Send' button wouldn't work;

A version checking bg was fixed in the update functions.

Sun 15 July 2007: New version of Bluetooth Texter widget available

Version 1.3 of the Bluetooth Texter widget can now be downloaded.

Changes for this version are:

This version uses DUN instead of SPP to connect to the phone and should be much more compatible;

The user interface has been cleaned-up a bit, the selection drop downs are much easier to use;

Extra sort options: you can now sort 4 ways. The sort selection is now drop-down list instead of some cryptic icons;

A direct link on the back of the widget to our online feedback form;

A button to check for updates to the widget, press this and a popup will appear letting you know if there is a new version.

We will slowly keep updating the widget, some future improvements are to fix an international phone number bug and to suport Unicode characters.
 We are quite busy with other projects and as our name suggests: utilities are not usually our game!

Wed 4 July 2007: New development builds of Bluetooth Texter working well with Treo 680!

We have a new development version of the widget that uses DUN (Dialup) instead
 of the SPP (Serial Port) profile, the error messages have been cleaned up and the interface is now easier to understand.

During some quick tests we have found that this new version works very well with the Treo 680 (Palm OS, Telstra Australia)
 and over the next few days we'll be able to test it with a couple of Samsungs (Z510 still doesn't work though) and a Blackberry or 2.

This is hopefully a big change regarding compatibility: the Treo 680 did not like our connections at all and the Treo 650 (which we took
 apart...) often locked up when the widget tried to connect to it.

This version will make it onto the Bluetooth Texter pages with a week.

Mon 25 June 2007: New Bluetooth Texter feedback method

New Bluetooth Texter feedback method: feedback form

We have received a large number of emails about the Bluetooth Texter widget and so far we have been answering each one individually.

To better manage the feedback and the replies, response times ar enow over a week, we have created a feedback form at feedback form. This method will allow us to easily sort on type of feedback and reply much faster.

If you are still emailing to the notagame@happymakinggames.com address you will get an autoreply pointing you to the FAQ and the feedback form.

Sat 26 May 2007: Bluetooth Texter v1.2 release!

Bluetooth Texter v1.2 s now available for download

Changes in Bluetooth Texter v1.2:

Name & numbers are now sorted. On the back of the widget you can toggle between last name and first name sorting.

A second method of telling the phone to send the SMS has been added. On the back of the widget you can toggle between the 2 methods.
 The default method should have more success with phones than the alternate method, we know for example that the alternate
 method shouldn't work with the Nokia 6233 but the default method does.

Fri 11 May 2007: Bluetooth Texter Compatibility update

Bluetooth Texter information

Phone compatibility.

If your phone works with the SMS functionality in the Apple Address Book then it should also work with this widget. Check Apple's iSync Compatible Devices page to see if your phone is compatible with iSync, it seems to be a good indicator.

Known to work with Siemens (S55), Nokia (6233) and Sony-Ericsson (700, 750) phones, we're trying more phones as we see/get them.

Known incompatible phones include Samsung Z510, Nokia N95, E50, Palm Treo, Motorola A835, V600.

 Our products range from games to little utilities that improve a small part of the game development cycle.
 Our first product will be available for free this week. It is a small tool that allows an artist using a
 Macintosh running Tiger to search images on their harddrive based on the colours inside!
