I like feedback.
It tells me wether my site is getting it's point across, and
it allows readers to correct any mistakes or
misconceptions!
If you have been reading this switch log you might remember
my call for information about some good utilites or good
places to get software for the Mac.>
Eytan has replied with a link and
some more information, including a correction. I've
condensed the email slightly, content is the same,
repetition removed.

Apple-Tab has existed in the mac for years. To borrow
the visual metaphor from MSFT is exactly what protreon
did. I really don't see that being such a big deal.
There are bigger things to pick Apple on.
P.S. nice
blog
Be sure to check the "ignore trackpad when typing" in
the keyboard & mouse system pref.
No, I don't mind at all if you publish the emails.
Feel free to turn to me for tips whenever you'd like. I
am a developer and mac aficionado.
Some other tools I
recommend checking out:
Watson (Have you looked at Sherlock yet?)
Konfabulator
Quicksilver
Camino
There are some really cool Mac only
apps. You'll be excited to check them out. Just came
across something that will tie together my
iCal/mail/AddressBook (I gave up Entourage just over a
month ago). Check out crm4Mac at
www.crm4mac.com
The Apple+TAB issue is a fun one! I was wrong in saying
that Apple copied Apple+Tab from Proteron, but the new look is
definitely very similar. I am not sure who first invented
the [somekey]+TAB combination but I assume it was Microsoft,
so everyone else who has implemented this has copied form
Microsoft! Maybe I picked on this since I have not really
found much else to pick on! The switch (partial for myself,
completely for my partner) has been painless, far easier than
I expected.
I still cannot find the "Ignore trackpad when typing"
option in Keyboard & Mouse Preferences. I remember seeing
this option somewhere before, maybe it has been removed in a
recent update, or is it now named "Ignore accidental trackpad
input"?
I've looked at Sherlock but have not looked at Watson
yet.
Konfabulator
was showing me my local weather
for the first week or so and was interesting. I used
DesktopX and
Windowblinds from Stardock
on Windows and equivalent utilities under Linux for a while.
Generally such things start to annoy me and then I remove
them, which is what I did.
Quicksilver, well, there's a
software company by this name and there
seems to be a
theme for MacOSX with this name. I'm not
going to install themes on my computers ever again, I've
wasted plenty of time on those with Windows. See, Windows
needs fixing much more than Aqua does (personal opinion).
I've installed Camino,
alongside Mozilla,
Thunderbird and Firefox. Currently I
use Firefox and Thunderbird on Windows, and Firefox and Mail on MacOSX!
Also, Eytan's suggestion regarding Crm4Mac,
I registered and downloaded, but haven't tried it yet. I'll see
how that goes within the next few days.
Now, just see how helpful some people are prepared to be:
"Feel free to turn to me for tips whenever you'd like. I
am a developer and mac aficionado.", how nice is that?
Thank you Eytan, I might take you up on that sometime!
Currently I still ask people if they mind if I publish
their emails on the site. Since volume has so far (obviously)
been low I can do this. Once volume ramps up a little I will
stop this and will follow the
Happymakinggames policy: publish all without showing
full name or email address, unless specifically asked to show these. If you have any
feedback, corrections or extra information about anything
please email me.
I wanted to learn how to make Xcode GLUT projects, I
searched using Sherlock and found
http://onesadcookie.com/Tutorials/,
which was exactly what I needed! Thank you Keith! The first 2
sections "Making a new project" and "Making a GLUT target"
were very usefull, the rest is usefull if you've never used
GLUT before.
Tomorrow's heading might be "Exclamation mark oveload!!!". ;)
